The recent history of Rwanda, which culminated in the genocide of 1994, devastated the Rwandan economy and destroyed much of the infrastructure. Tragically the death of up to one million people left the human resource base, and in particular that of trained personnel, in a desperate situation. Twenty three years on the new Government has succeeded in rehabilitating infrastructure, restoring public services and re-establishing a credible government in the eyes of both the people of Rwanda and the international community.
Rwanda has no appreciable natural resource mineral base. The Government of Rwanda has realised that, in order to develop the country, it needs to develop the human resource base in particular in the areas of science and technology.Rwanda United Kingdom Goodwill Organisation (RUGO) is devoted to the advancement of education and training of the people of Rwanda and has undertaken a number of projects to improve life in Rwanda.
